Minimalism-Becoming proactive of what you bring into your home

Today I went to a Pampered Chef party. I will be hosting a party because I do want a few things that I know will be used in my kitchen. It's also a good way to support another teacher in direct sales (:
I was given a dessert recipe book as a reward for hosting, but I know I'll never use it! I barely know how to cook! Haha!
I was proactive and gave it to my friend's mom who loves to bake. I'm just so glad I gave it away before it could stay unused in my home for years.
I'm glad I know myself and am accepting that I'm not going to become a baker overnight.
Perhaps when my cooking improves, I will move on to that. But even then, I'm glad I didn't keep it to hold onto in case I'll need it "one day."
The old me would've also kept it simply because it was free.
Yay for one small victory of beating clutter in my home!

Minimalism really makes you think about what you actually use before you bring it into your life and home.
You start to question why you're bringing it into your space and if it will fulfill it's purpose, or will it go unused.

It's much better to be proactive because you then skip the part at the end when you're trying to decide what to get rid of. I know I have a hard time of getting rid of things, so I'd rather not get attached in the first place and get rid of the item right away.

I'm still decluttering, but being proactive will help the process so much by keeping more stuff out of our home.

Makeup Declutter-Why It's Important to Take Pictures!

I'm sure everyone else who is decluttering has already been doing this, but I wish I would have taken before and after pictures of my progress! Sometimes I feel like decluttering is like losing weight; sometimes you can't see your progress and it can become discouraging. We own our car! Paid it off three years early!

Last May, when we lined up all of our debt, we had about $18,000 left to pay on our car. This was our largest debt, aside from the house, that we needed to pay off. Now, a year and a half later, we have finally paid our car off! I submitted the payment from a different bank account with the payoff amount, but since it took a few days to process, 11 cents in interest was added. I am proud to say that I transferred that 11 cents from my checking on that account and paid the car off today! I have learned from this car experience to NEVER buy new again! I didn't know that car value drops as soon as you leave the lot. Also, we paid so much in interest the last four years, we definitely overpaid for this car than we needed to. Lesson learned! We only have one more debt left, my teen's braces with the remaining cost of $700, and then we will only have a mortgage payment!

Seventh Generation Pod Laundry Detergent Review

I've been really interested in simplifying everything we use, including what we use in our surroundings. I've cut down on most things in the laundry room. I purchased some Norwex dryer balls two years ago and stopped using fabric softener. I tried using All Free & Clear, but found it would leave an odd smell to my clothes after.
