Decluttering Challenge Day 8-21

I've been trying to take pictures of everything I get rid of on the daily, but I feel like I may have missed a day or two. I have continued to get rid of stuff at least once a day!  I've had this club soda in my fridge for months "just in case." And it was already expired haha! My sister gave me this because she thought the movies inside were mine, but they were actually my mom's, so I gave it back to her.  I was following a diet plan that required fancy mustard. I don't even like regular mustard haha! And this expired.  Giving this to a friend who is going to have a baby. Got rid of some old essays I wrote and other paperwork.  I stepped on this fake candle from our wedding. It made me bleed! We still have others so I let it go.  Got this from a used mom store and my baby didn't even use it! She was already too old by the time we bought it, so I brought it to the same store with some other used stuff to get...

Decluttering Challenge Day 5, 6, & 7

I went through my medicine cabinet again, and there were a lot of prescription drugs that I hadn't gotten rid of because I didn't want to dispose of them in the trash; I wanted to take them to a police sub station where they can be disposed of safely. I was disappointed to find one prescription still in a Walgreens bag, brand new and never used from two years ago. My husband is a cop and is going to take these to a substation tomorrow. I also got rid of shrimp and crab boil seasoning. It expired two years ago haha! When we first moved in, we had boiled our own shrimp and crab. We thought we'd do it a lot more often. Surprise! We never did again haha! I also used to use Isagenix products and I found one that expired in 2016. I also got rid of the shelf cover that has been used to store all these meds. It was quite dirty and ready to be tossed out. Day 5 I take medication that doesn't mix well with alcohol, but I also can't consume it because my body typ...

Decluttering Challenge Day 3 & 4

For my summer challenge of decluttering on day three and four, I got rid of some eyeliners and old medicine. The eyeliners had to go because I don't use them. We are working hard to get out of debt, so instead of using my usually Kat Von D eyeliner, I didn't purchase this brand for a whole year. I instead tried to use this dollar tree liner (on the left) and this NYX liner that had good reviews. Unfortunately, both didn't work for me, so I was eyeliner-less for a whole year haha! The chola in me is sadden by that. Now that we are in a better place financially, I got myself my usual Kat Von D liner for Mother's Day. <3 On day four I went through our medicine cabinet. I think I last went through it a year ago. I got rid of two items that I noticed were expired. I recycled both containers. (: Hope someone out there is decluttering with me!

Decluttering Challenge Day 2

Waking up this morning, I wasn't sure where I'd be decluttering today. I was cleaning my kitchen and putting dishes away when I realized that I should check to make sure my storage containers are matching up. I wasn't sure if they all had lids or not. Or maybe I just had lids with no matches. I recommend buying storage containers with lids attached to them (the blue lid in this pictures is attached), makes life much easier! Well, I matched up almost all my storage containers except for one. So I thanked the container for it's usefulness and placed it in recycling. I have no idea what I'll be decluttering tomorrow!

Decluttering challenge for my summer: getting rid of clutter once a day

Now that I am off for the summer, I am going to be putting more effort into my decluttering.  My decluttering journey began two years ago, and it has definitely has changed my life for the better. I know you're probably I should be done by now with all that time. I sometimes think the same for myself! But I am on to the very last bit which is the hardest for me to give away: the excess of my daughters' old clothes and toys. I am also in a constant state of monitoring the amount of clutter that comes into and out of my home.  I've been doing pretty well by keeping my decluttering on track, but I KNOW I can do more. I have decided to start a challenge for myself for this summer, which is to declutter at least one item a day. At the minimum I'm going to give this challenge a month, but if I can continue to August, then I'm going to go for it! Here are a few items that I got rid of today: I discovered that I had about five copies of this one particular a...

I gave up my chance to meet an actor on my favorite show to chaperone prom

I've been a huge Breaking Bad fan for years now. I have met Bryan Cranston twice and have a Breaking Bad tattoo (No more half measures!) The first time I met Bryan Cranston  When my husband and I had a Breaking Bad finale viewing party, I cried hysterically in front of everyone as Walt died. I was once an extra on Better Call Saul. I was a DEA agent, but just a blur in the background on screen. But I knew it was me and that was all that mattered! A dream come true! So when I say that I am a big fan of the show, I REALLY MEAN IT, THAT SHOW IS MY LIFE!!!  Last night there was a chance to meet the actor who played Saul from the show. Usually in a heartbeat I would have bought tickets immediately and would have been so stoked to meet another actor from my favorite show.  When the event was shared on Facebook I wanted to buy tickets, but then I realized it was the same night as prom at my work. I've been with the same class for three years (I missed their juni...

Kitchen Decluttering

It's so important to take before pictures! I recently decluttered my kitchen a bit more, but I wish I had a picture to compare how far I've come. My counters used to be cluttered with so much stuff. There was a pile of paper always by the sink and the wifi was also located there. It was all such a mess! There was hardly any free counter space and it always looked so sloppy! I took some pictures of what my kitchen currently looks like, but I wish I had more before pictures so I can remind myself that our kitchen is so much more pleasing to the eye now than it used to be! If you are starting a minimalism journey and you want to watch your progress, I suggest taking pictures! Decluttering is like losing weight; you reach a point where you feel like you can't see a difference, but you know you have been working so hard to change. Then you see an old photo and realize how far you've come. This has been how I feel with decluttering. I feel like there is still so much jun...
